September is wrapping up this week and we have almost finished our first month of school.  It is crazy how fast time flies when you're having fun and we have been having tons of it.
The grade 3/4's have all written and given an oral presentation about their summer adventures.  It sounds like everyone had a great summer making memories.
We have also been working on number patterns in math this month.  We have discussed increasing and decreasing patterns using addition and subtraction.  The grade 4's are now exploring the pattern concepts using multiplication.
In science, we have become geologists and have an extensive collection of wonderful rocks and minerals to investigate and examine for our rocks and minerals unit.
We have also been travelling around Canada learning about our country and developing our mapping skills in social.  We are also learning about the Inuit people of Canada and their way of life.
It has been a very eventful month and it continues this week with the following events:
           Sept. 25 Look-a-like day.
Sept. 27 Terry Fox Run  (We are collecting a $2 for Terry if you wish to donate)
           Sept. 28 Orange Shirt Day
WE club and the entire school are also collecting donations for their Fall Food Drive until September 28.

Welcome Back!!

Welcome Back!

I can't believe how quickly the summer flew by but it feels great to be back in the classroom again.  We have had a busy couple of days getting organized and reacquainted.  The grade 3's are settling in very well and the grade 4's are great role models of what is expected in our class.  I look forward to hearing all about their summer adventures as the week rolls on and they finish their first writing assignment.  Hope to see all of you tonight at the Welcome Back BBQ and Meet the Teacher event tonight at 5:45.
